These are the carbon-tipped parallel jaw tongs I have made. The grip of the tool is kept cool with rags that are kept wet with water. The carbon tips are mounted perpendicular to the axis of the tongs. |

Note the flats ground onto the carbon rods which keep them from rolling off the hose clamps, allowing them to mate firmly to the tong tips. If desired, a texture can be made on the rods to emboss into the hot glass. Also, the rods may be coated with diluted Aquadag. |
