The wonders of element number six: carbon

In this talk we will explore the many different allotropes of carbon, two of which have been the subject of Nobel Prizes within the last twenty years (Graphene in 2010 and Fullerenes in 1996) from synthesis to applications. The use of materials such as carbon nanotubes, graphene and diamond goes hand in hand with some of the latest developments in science and (nano)technology which will also be showcased here.
