Role on the CRC project:

Project 1:  We are working on the reduction of [VO2(H2O)4]+ and [VO2(dipic)]-
by ascorbic acid in reverse micelles.  The reverse micelles are comprised of
NaAOT in isooctane.  The rates for the ascorbate reduction of the former
appears inhibited whereas the latter is enhanced.

Project 2:  We have demonstrated that the MLCT band for [Ru(NH3)5pyz]2+ is very
sensitive probe for pH measurements within reverse micelles.  The pKa of the
compound is sensitive to encapsulation within the RM and decreases with
decreasing RM size.
