Flueggenines A and B

Isolated from the root of the Flueggea virosa, both flueggenine A and B can be formed from their natural product monomer unit, (-)-norsecurinine. Flueggea virosa has been traditionally used in Chinese medicine to treat leucorrhoea, cephalic eczema, rheumatism, pruritus, and simple injuries. Both flueggenine A and B represent two unprecedented C,C-linked dimeric indolizidine alkaloids, presenting an attractive target for total synthesis.
