Debromophycolide A

The bromophycolide family are part of a rare diterpene-benzoate macrolides.  Isolated from the extracts of the Fijian red algae Callophycus serratus, they offer a unique synthetic challenge.  We imagine starting with debromophycolide A as a synthetic precursor to the rest of the family through additions, and/or rearraggements.  From a biological stand point, this family offers modest antineoplastic activity for various human tumor cell lines.
