Summer Program in Materials Chemistry Research:

Synthesis, Characterization, and Device Fabrication at

Colorado State University

June 1 - August 7, 2009

For the 16th consecutive year, the Department of Chemistry at Colorado State University will host its NSF-REU sponsored summer undergraduate research program.  Deadline for application:  March 15, 2009.

Nanotechnology has emerged at the forefront of 21st century science and manufacturing and exists at the intersection of chemistry, physics, engineering, and biology. This program will provide undergraduate students and K12 teachers an introduction to a variety of aspects of Materials Science and Nanotechnology research.

The program aims to:

§      provide graduate level, cross-disciplinary materials chemistry research experiences for students whose home institutions do not offer such opportunities and for in-service teachers;

§      offer research opportunities to students from groups traditionally underrepresented in chemistry;

§      expose students to career options and opportunities in chemistry and science in general;

§      stimulate intellectual discussion between mentors and students about ethical issues in science.
