President’s Community Lecture Series will feature Amy Prieto, May 24

Chemist and battery entrepreneur Amy Prieto will be the featured speaker for the President’s Community Lecture Series on May 24.
The President’s Community Lecture Series, hosted by CSU President Tony Frank, presents free, public talks by outstanding Colorado State University faculty. Their aim is to introduce CSU research, entrepreneurship and innovation to the Fort Collins community and beyond.
Prieto, associate professor of chemistry in the College of Natural Sciences, will give a talk titled “Inexpensive, efficient approaches for energy conversion and storage,” 6:30-8 p.m., May 24 at the Lory Student Center North Ballroom. Registration is required, as space is limited.
Founder and CEO of the startup Prieto Battery, Prieto’s passion is developing new ways to make materials with applications in energy storage and conversion.
She and her students are contributing to the knowledge base in photovoltaics, hydrogen storage and batteries. Their ultimate goals are to develop new materials that enable better devices for the energy economy, with an eye toward making these solutions safe, environmentally friendly and inexpensive.
Fort Collins-based Prieto Battery is working in partnership with Fortune 500 companies, including Intel, to bring energy storage solutions to a diverse range of applications from computing devices and the Internet of Things to cordless power tools and lawn equipment.
