Literature Seminar Abstract

Insecticides are ubiquitous and trace levels can be found in soil, water, air, and food residues. The mode of action that causes the insecticide to be harmful to insects is also found in humans, so if humans are exposed to high enough levels, there are negative health effects. Therefore, it is necessary to detect insecticides at low levels, preferably in the field. Nanoparticles are increasingly being used for insecticide detection due to good sensitivity, low limits of detection, and variability. Here, an immunochromatographic test strip employs MnO2 nanoflower-labeled antibodies to detect chlorpyrifos, an insecticide, at low levels.
