X-Ray Crystallography Facility

The Department's single crystal X-ray diffraction laboratory operates two Bruker X-ray diffractometers, one a SMART-CCD instrument capable of rapid, highly precise data collection.

The X-ray lab offers both data collection and structure determination capabilities through the efforts of Ms. Susie Miller, the facility's full-time crystallographer.

Hands on Access

In addition to standard services, Ms. Miller and Prof. Oren Anderson offer support, through both course work and individual instruction, for "hands on" data collection and structure determination for students who are interested in acquiring expertise in modern single crystal X-ray diffraction.

Students also have full access to several high-level computers in the X-ray lab that are dedicated to their use in performing structural computations.
