Description:About the Seminar:\n\nLithium-ion batteries are an omnipresent
aspect of the modern world and are found in the majority of consumer elect
ronic devices. Although lithium-ion batteries can store a lot of charge\,
this technology is limited in the power it can provide and requires expens
ive and isolated feedstock materials. Alternative battery technologies lik
e 3D batteries and sodium-ion batteries are good replacements for lithium-
ion batteries due to the good power density of 3D batteries and cheap feed
stock materials for sodium-ion batteries. Concerning both 3D batteries and
sodium-ion batteries\, it is incredibly important to understand how inter
facial interactions and phenomena affect the performance of these systems.
The work presented herein highlights advances made in 3D batteries and th
e areas in which they need to progress\, the functionality of protective c
yclized-polyacrylonitrile (cPAN) coatings on antimony-based anodes in sodi
um-ion batteries\, and a beginners guide to understanding interfacial inte
ractions via electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). 4:00 pm
