Description:\nThe electron microprobe is a state-of-the-art microanalytical
platform specializing in the quantitative compositional analysis of metal
 s\, alloys\, inorganic minerals\, glasses\, ceramics\, and thin-films. Hig
h spatial and spectral resolution is achieved using a combination of a fie
ld-emission electron e-gun and 140 mm Rowland circle equipped with a varie
ty of diffracting crystals. These diffracting crystals enable the quantifi
cation of concentrations of B to U with detection limits in the low hundre
ds of parts per million. Specialized detectors\, such as the cathodolumine
scence detector\, also enable specialized imaging\, making this instrument
a versatile application of e-beam technology.\n\n\nPresented by Dr. Danny
  Coulthard (CSU Geosciences)\nRegistration here: https://www.research.colo
 state.edu/arc/seminars-workshops/\n\nOctober 28th\, 2-3pm in Yates 102/103
  or on Teams 2:00 pm
