Description:Research has shown that faculty interactions with students in t
he classroom\, laboratory\, and advising meetings influence students\\' pr
ofessional socialization\, academic performance\, and persistence in highe
r education. In this workshop\, faculty will reflect on their current advi
sing and mentoring practice and learn how to develop equity-minded mentori
ng relationships. Equity-minded mentors 1.) take personal and institutiona
l responsibility for the success of their graduate students\, 2.) are atte
ntive to the social and historical context of graduate education and how e
xclusionary practices shape the experiences of doctoral students who are f
rom minoritized groups\, and 3.) affirm the social identities of emerging
scholars in ways that facilitate their academic\, professional\, and socia
l development. Activities in this workshop will develop competencies in th
ese areas and will help faculty develop equity-minded mentoring agreements
as a tool that establishes shared expectations between mentors and mentee
s.\n\nThis workshop is facilitated by Julie Posselt (USC) and Liz Daniele
(University of Rochester). Attendance is open to faculty\, staff\, and stu
dents from Colorado State University - please register with your universit
y email address for approval. If you have any questions about this event\,
