Description:Photoredox catalysis has gained recent prominence due to the ab
ility to employ mild reaction conditions and achieve challenging chemical
transformations. A significant portion of this work has focused mainly on
employing ruthenium andiridium polypyridyl complexes due to their characte
ristics as photocatalysts. However\, as photocatalysis becomes morecommonp
lace in synthetic labs\, so does the need for a more sustainable non-rare
earth metal catalyst. In this seminar\, the designand application of new s
trongly reducing photoredox catalysts are discussed with examples of their
implementation in smallmolecule and macromolecular syntheses. 4:00 pm
