Description:Literature Seminar\n\nMagic-sized clusters (MSCs) have recently
been of interest as precursors in the synthesis of nanoparticles of poten
tially useful materials. They can be used to produce a narrower size distr
ibution of the resulting nanoparticles (as opposed to simple salt precurso
rs)\, and can be used to control morphology. However\, the role of MSCs on
the nucleation and growth steps varies drastically across different react
ion systems. This talk will focus on one kind of MSC used for the synthesi
s of InP nanoparticles\, and will explore the effect of additives on the M
SCs to determine how the stability of the MSCs alters the growth mechanism
to form anisotropic particles.\n\nZoom Link: TBA 4:00 pm
