Description:About the Seminar\n\nBenefiting from an ever-expanding library
of functionality\, nanoscale ‘devices’ are being developed that can me
asure and manipulate their environment at molecular scales. Employed as pl
atforms for wireless monitoring\, I have used these devices to measure the
nanoscale structure of folded DNA and RNA\, enabling methods for remote o
bservation DNA and RNA activity arising from intricate changes in 3D folde
d structure. Used as a therapeutic platform\, I have used nanodevices to d
eliver and spatially track genetic payloads within living cells\; enabling
the development of improved gene-delivery systems. Currently\, I am devel
oping new classes of nanodevices that allow for the remote control of enzy
mes activity\; enabling new avenues of therapeutic treatment. And most rec
ently\, preliminary work in the engineering of cells to spontaneously synt
hesize nanostructured materials is laying the foundation for nanoscale dev
ices that can be generated within a living body\, with precise composition
  and functionality. 4:00 pm
