Description:About the Seminar\n\n Electrochemistry is used widely today\,
spanning from production of hydrogen and metals such as aluminum and Li-io
n batteries. We will discuss current and future opportunities in using ele
ctrochemistry to power cars and buildings\, and to make chemicals and fuel
s with energy from the Sun. Research towards establishing design principle
s in controlling reaction rates at the interface\, and ion transport in io
n conductors\, central to the functions of electrochemical devices\, will
 be presented.\n\nAbout the Speaker\n\nProfessor Shao-Horn is W.M. Keck Pro
fessor of Energy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.). He
r research is centered on exploiting chemical/materials physics to underst
and and control kinetics and dynamics at interface and in bulk for energy
storage and making of sustainable fuels/chemicals. Professor Shao-Horn is
a member of National Academy of Engineering and is among the World’s Mos
t Influential Scientific Minds and Highly Cited Researchers. 4:00 pm
