Description:Polymers are all around us – from our daily use to biopolymer
s and therapeutics. Inspired by recent advances in chemistry\, molecular p
harmaceutics and biotechnology\, on-demand and triggerable “smart” sys
tems offers opportunities from precisely synthesis of polymers to deliveri
ng drugs in dose-\, spatial- and temporal- controlled manners. This semina
r will mainly discuss our ongoing efforts in controlling synthesis of degr
adable polyesters by light and electricity. I will focus on the chemical s
ynthesis of stereoregular\, high-molecular-weight polyesters with various
pendant functional groups. Our synthetic strategies allows for the prepara
tion of various syndiotactic and stereoblock copolymers from racemic monom
ers\, which exhibit glass transition temperature values spanning over ~100
°C\, presenting great potentials for different applications.\n\nJoin Zoo
