On April 8 at 5:30 p.m., the University Honors Program and University Advancement will host the 2026 Eddy Lecture, titled “Beyond Screens, Chats, and Cheating: Reimagining AI in Education” (LSC Theatre). The talk will be delivered by Dr. Sidney D’Mello (University of Colorado Boulder), whose work focuses on how cognition and emotion shape learning in real-world environments.
Dr. D’Mello invites audiences to explore a bold, human-centered vision of artificial intelligence in the classroom. Moving beyond concerns about screen time and academic shortcuts, this talk highlights how AI can foster authentic learning through inquiry, collaboration, and community impact. Discover how students, teachers, and schools can co-design responsible AI practices that deepen connection and transform education from within.
Light appetizers and beverages will be provided after the lecture and Q&A session.
