Seminar Abstract:

Quantum information science aims to revolutionize our technologies during the second quantum quantum revolution. Within the field, quantum sensing has been of particular interest to chemists due to our ability to precisely control molecular systems. This seminar will discuss the work of Espinosa et al. (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2026) which establishes design principles which can be used for the development of molecular quantum sensors. Most important among these principles is the control of orbital angular momentum (OAM) to modulate coherence time of an electronic spin qubit. After showing the ability to accurately control OAM and coherence time, these principles are then successfully applied to a model system for chloride anion detection.
