Andrea Selkow, a chemistry grad student in Professor Melissa Reynold’s group, was awarded the 2023 Lawrence Salvati, Jr. Award. Andrea’s research is focused in applied organic synthesis. Her current project focuses on the synthesis of NONOate derivatives with antibacterial potential.

The Lawrence Salvati, Jr. Award honors Dr. Lawrence Salvati, Jr., Chair of the inaugural Surfaces and Biomaterials Symposium in 1991, where the Surfaces in Biomaterials Foundation was born. The Foundation created an annual award to be given to a student exemplifying their commitment and contributions to advancing the Surfaces field.
