About the Seminar: 

The bioactivity of chemical compounds is often identified through the screening large sets of molecules, where a primary bottleneck for drug discovery often resides in the suite of compounds available for biological testing. A strategic approach for drug discovery would enable the modular coupling of multiple fragments onto one starting material, allowing for parallel syntheses and amplified structural diversity. This proposal focuses on the activation of aldehydes and ketones to behave as carbon dication intermediates, enabling the selective cross-coupling of multiple nucleophiles to a carbon skeleton.
