Seminar Abstract:

In this seminar, I aim to describe what it is like to work at a Primarily Undergraduate Institution (PUI), how the application and interview process works, and takeaways I have gleaned from being on the other side of the interview process. We will talk about the types of PUIs out there, what the day-to-day life of a PUI faculty member looks like, and how one conducts research at a PUI. Finally, we will have an extended Question & Answer session.

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Whitehead was a member of Prof. Rick Finke’s research group at Colorado State University from 2015 to 2020. He then completed a postdoctoral appointment at the University of Basel with Prof. Jonathan De Roo. In 2022, Dr. Whitehead began a tenure-track appointment at Union College and currently holds the position of John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Assistant Professor of Chemistry.
