About the Seminar:

Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMD) are efficient electrode materials for photoelectrochemical (PEC) energy conversion applications, although bulk TMD electrodes are generally more efficient than nanoflake TMD thin films. The disparity in PEC performance is generally attributed to charge carrier recombination at defect or edge sites. Recently, doping heterogeneity has been proposed as an alternative explanation for the limited ensemble-level performance. Understanding this performance disparity is crucial for advancing large-scale production methods of heterogeneous nanoflake TMD thin film electrodes. Here, I will discuss recent results that compare scanning photocurrent microscopy and scanning electrochemical cell microscopy measurements of individual TMD nanoflakes.
