Metal organic frameworks (MOF) have become of interest for application in radioactive environments as studies have shown γ-irradiation resistance in MOFs. MOFs are synthetically tunable which provides an advantage for a variety of applications. However, there is not a great understanding of what properties make MOFs resistant to radiation. This talk will focus on γ-irradiation and He²⁺ irradiation studies of a Th⁴⁺ based MOF with extended π-system as the organic linker to determine the effect on irradiation stability of MOFs with extended π-systems.
